Business Department Sign Off

The end of the year is upon us. We are finishing up our final projects and preparing for our final exams. While students are enjoying their summers we at the FR Business Technology Department will be working to improve our courses and our department. Here is a wrap up of successes in the department this years.
  • Will the loss of Mrs. Gallucci, she has been sorely missed, we were lucky enough to find a quality replacement in Mr. Kane Daignault. He has had a great year and we are looking for him to improve with experience. His ideas have been refreshing and he has been a perfect addition to our faculty here at FR.
  • We have added 2 new courses to our curriculum, International Business and Webpage Design. These courses went well this year and we will continue to improve them each year.
  • We have added dual enrollment agreements with LaRoche College for our Accounting I Honors and Entrepreneurship classes. Students can get college credit for taking these courses at FR.
  • We have added the Regor C. Enak Outstanding Business Student Award. This year the award will go to Zack White.
  • A special thanks to Ms. Cassidy and Mr. Roach for teaching a few sections of Microsoft Office to help out the department. Great job!
Here are some ideas that we are working on for next school year.
  • We will continue to improve our Moodle sites giving every student the ability to access course materials, grades and calendars 24/7.
  • Mr. Daignault and I will be planning a Fall Golf Outing, pending administrative support, for all students in the department. Cross your fingers!
  • I will propose an International Business trip to NYC for next summer. Hopefully, our school board will has done some research into best educational practices and will approve our trip this time around.
  • We are looking to add a Business Technology Department Varsity Club. This group will be made up of students who have taken multiple business courses and we will plan special activities for this group.
  • Improve new courses annually
  • We will be upgrading to Microsoft Office 2007 in both labs for the 2008-2009 school year. The Microsoft Office class will also be using 2007 for the first time. It looks like Mr. Roach, Ms. Cassidy and Mr. Daignault will again teach these courses.
  • We will be bringing back a Sports Marketing Unit in the Entrepreneurship/Marketing course. This will involve speakers and field trips to local ball parks.
Enjoy your summer and see you in August!
