My Entrepreneurship students are just getting started with blogging. Here is a post from MJones on using Twitter for your business. Great job MJones!
If you’re starting a business and you’ve asked yourself “Can twitter be beneficial to my business?” don’t worry, you’re not the only one. With twitter growing more and more popular, people have started using it not only for personal reasons but also to help their business grow. Now some would say that twitter is just another social networking site and shouldn’t be used in the office but don’t you need a little social networking when it comes to business? How else are you going to reach out to clients or find tips from other business owners that could turn out being very beneficial to you?
I think you’d agree with me that reaching out to your audience is important; with twitter it gives you a chance to do this. Posting (or tweeting) about your business, your products, or your ideas will give people the chance to see what your business is about and advertise it. Twitter also gives you the chance to post advice to other people who might be starting a business and vice versa. As much as you might not want to admit it, you can’t start a business on your own and reading on twitter what other people did to help them out with their business could also help you. So now you’re saying you understand that twitter is beneficial but “how do I get followers?”- Blogging. Research actually shows that if your business blogs it will get more twitter followers. So don’t cancel out the idea of twitter just because you don’t know what it is or because you are worried it’s only for personal use; you could be missing out on the chance to advance your business. And with twitter growing more and more it’s becoming easier and easier for you to access it so don’t ignore it, go tweet.
